Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the R&S ZVL, expanding the toolset available in a compact field analyser.
According to the company, the R&S ZVL is the lightest and smallest vector network analyser on the market - optionally including spectrum analysis, distance to fault testing, power measurements using the highly acclaimed NRP range of sensors, and soon, application firmware for noise figure and gain, WiMAX and WCDMA.
The result is an all-purpose instrument that offers a solution for field installation and maintenance tasks as well as being suited to development areas where an economical solution to a multitude of requirements is necessary. The instrument claims features that were previously only available in a range of separate instruments.
With a weight of 7 kg and a depth of 37 cm, the device is easy to transport and can be battery operated for mobile applications. Yet it offers all the functionality you expect from a network analyser, featuring a bidirectional test set that enables analysis of all four S-parameters, wide frequency ranges from 9 kHz to 3 GHz or 9 kHz to 6 GHz and a range of 123 dB. The ZVL matches in large part the performance that is otherwise only available in larger and more expensive instruments.
